First On-line Meeting to Our Costa Rica Silk Road College

At 10 AM 20/MAY local time of China,we held first On-line meeting to our Costa Rica Silk Road College. Person in charge of Costa Rican side,Douglas Caamano Quiros, dean of the International Education School, Jian Jingjuan, director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Song Haijing, vice dean of the International Education School, Yang Ying, instructor, Liu Li, teacher Yu Dandan and Fu Lingling met online with 25 Costa Rican students. This meeting laid the foundation for the development of online teaching and the improvement of understanding between teachers and students.

At the meeting, Yang Ying, represented our college to welcome all freshmen who participated in the online Chinese course and introduced every teacher to them.

Then, Yu Dandan introduced the arrangement of Chinese teaching courses to the students, hoping that the students could abide by online classroom discipline and adapt to online Chinese teaching as soon as possible. She said: "Language is the carrier of understanding Chinese culture but the most difficult as well. I hope all new students can overcome all kinds of difficulties and set goals for yourself. Through listening carefully in class, completing homework in time, accumulating a little every day, persevering to achieve the success, I hope we can communicate in Chinese when we meet in China." The students also introduced themselves one by one, and had a preliminary understanding of each other. This online meeting being an important part of online Chinese course shortened the distance between freshmen and teachers.

Background Review of the establishment of Costa Rica Silk Road College

China and Costa Rica established diplomatic relations in 2007 and signed a free trade agreement in 2010. China has been the second largest trading country in Costa Rica in recent years.

In September 2018, China and Costa Rica jointly signed the MOU on the Belt and Road initiative, and Costa Rica became one of our Belt and Road friends.

In October 2018, taking advantage of the Belt and Road initiative, the National Center Technical Studies of Costa Rica(CENET) visited our college and signed MOU with us. Both parties conducted continuous and in-depth communication and cooperation on cultural and educational exchanges.

Experienced Classroom Teaching

In June 2019, invited by CENET, secretary of the Party Committee of our college, Yang Zhihong, led the team to Costa Rica and signed MOU with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security Costa Rica. At the same time, our college and CENET signed Strategic Partnership Agreement on jointly setting up China-Guizhou Vocational and Technical College of Water Resources and Hydropower Costa Rica Silk Road College.
