—Online Teaching Officially Started during the COVID-19 Outbreak

Under the severe epidemic situation, our college has actively implemented the relevant document requirements of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, and the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, Provincial Government and Provincial Department of Education on ”Suspending the opening of schools, never cease to teach and learn". After the careful planning, the online teaching work during the epidemic prevention and control of the 2020 spring semester was officially started on March 2 as scheduled.

In order to do a good job of online teaching during the epidemic, college president Chen Hailiang had made a careful arrangement. The vice-president, Liu Youfan had supervised the whole process, and organized some video conferences, such as online teaching work, online teacher teaching training, online teaching work promotion conferences etc. All teaching units actively responded to the reform of teaching methods, innovated teaching methods, attached importance to the teaching process, guaranteed learning results, and promoted the innovation of teaching and learning with the deep integration of modern educational technology and teaching.

Under the high attention of the college leaders, led by the Office of Academic Affairs, all teaching units and academic management units from the top to the bottom had unified thoughts, with high enthusiasm, performing their respective duties, making careful preparations, doing a good job in front and behind the scenes of online teaching. The online teaching officially started on March 2, 2020.

On the first day of online teaching, we made the best use of virtual learning and set up a total of 55 online courses. 75 teachers carried out online teaching work in the Chaoxing learning platform, Intelligence Cloud Vocational Education platform and Meiheyisi Group platform. There are 159 online classes carried out teaching activities, the main teaching platform, Chaoxing learning platform, had 219 online teachers and 9,734 online students, with 248,311 activeness. On the online learning platform, students studied hard and actively participated in discussions. Teachers answered questions online, and arranged the assignments during and after class. Teachers and students actively interacted, presenting a good online teaching atmosphere.

During epidemic period, 105 online courses were prepared by our Ideological and Political Education Department, School of Hydraulic Engineering, School of Electricity Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, and School of management Engineering, School of International Education and Public Basic Education Department. A total of 204 teachers participated in the online teaching, covering all students at levels 18 and 19.

Among all the teaching units, on March 2, Ideological and Political Education Department officially began an course on "2020 Epidemic Prevention and Control and Related Policies and Laws", which has four topics, Topic 1: Correctly understanding the epidemic situation, victory of the fight against epidemic prevention and control ; Topic 2: Victory of the epidemic—knowledge of epidemic prevention; Topic 3: Rule of law and integrity; Topic 4: Promoting patriotism under epidemic prevention and control.

Through the four topics, students can understand the knowledge of epidemic prevention and control, do a good job in the education of law-abiding and patriotism, and fight against the epidemic! The teachers of each teaching unit are well prepared, and each course has a course director. The course team prepares and discusses the lessons together online, searches for teaching resources, designs teaching activities before and after class, to make sure that students can obtain more knowledge during the epidemic period.

At present, it is believed that all the teachers and students of our college are to actively face and overcome difficulties. The faculty will do a good job in online teaching, and ensure the smooth progress of teaching.
